Hybrid Hypercar

INSPIRATION:
In the world of modern supercars the concept of a hybrid car is still exclusive only to large, proven brands, remaining an unexploited option by competitors. Having the liberty to choose which type of traction to use make the driving experience not only pleasant, but also exciting. Lines and styles from the past have been homaged combining them with modern concepts and technologies. People often forget old brilliant ideas in their simplicity and robustness, which is why we chose to realize this design as a tribute to the past, but also as a breaking point for the patterns of the future.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
With a rear-mounted 9,500 rpm 3.8-liter twin turbocharged boxer engine, two 300 Kw electric motors in front and 2 120kw MGU-Hs, this hybrid hypercar is designed to offer an intense driving experience. Nera Asimmetrica has a unique modular chassis and an aircraft-derived cockpit inspired by modern military jets. It also features an active valve control system that significantly increases engine performance and fuel economy. Finally, it bringing the pop-up headlights back to life through 3D printing, framing an idea from the past with solutions that look into the future.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Everything in the Nera Asimmetrica is at your fingertips. The driving experience is not only immersive through a full integration of steering wheel controls, and the use of custom AI for control and driver assistance, but it is made simple and intuitive through the use of touchscreen HMIs integrated into the dashboard that allow the driver to feel like the true protagonist of the driving experience.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in April 2022 in Sanremo, Imperia, Italy and finished in June 2022 in Sanremo, Imperia, Italy.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The Nera Asimmetrica project was made using Rhinoceros 7 and rendered with Keyshot 11. This project is a virtual prototype to test a new vehicle configuration to make the production of an Hybrid Supercar flexible with a great passive safety, maintaining an high level of performance.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
6-cylinder 1015 hp boxer engine with 2 front electric motors and two 2 MGU-H in split turbo configuration for a total of 1578 hp. 8-cell lithium-ion battery. Wheelbase 2521 mm, overall length 4583 mm, overall width 2079 mm, overall height 1135 mm, front track 1682 mm, rear track 1678 mm. Estimated dry weight 1610 kg. Weight distribution, front and rear, 46/53. Estimated top speed 448.5Km/h.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
An ongoing research process created the basis of the project. It was divided into three phases: An overall analysis of the vehicle and its prospects, carrying out multiple tests on shapes and solutions using a CAD software for the modeling phase. The collected data was then supported by the analysis of articles, videos, manuals and interviews with experts and personal experiences. The final stage was developed by integrating each solution into a single abstract entity, making it futuristic and current, while maintaining a high level of sustainability using cutting-edge concepts and solutions.

CHALLENGE:
Certainly, the biggest challenge was to integrate all the propulsion systems into the project, as well as equipping the car with the energy recovery system while maintaining a correct cooling and adapting the body structure to the total power output. Incorporating these elements into the project was not easy, above all to maintain a high level of safety and sustainability. To achieve this, we have designed a modular chassis with a double cage in carbon, equipped the passenger compartment with 5 airbags and a system which automatically alerts the appropriate structures in case of accident.
