The number of traditional techniques in Japan continues to decline, and it is difficult to maintain them. I am concerned that if this situation continues, craftsmen who can take advantage of the characteristics of wood and traditional techniques that make use of natural materials will be left out of the workforce, and I, as a temple carpenter, am participating in the Architectural Award to pass on traditional techniques and educate people about the potential of wood.
