FAQ Entry #372

Home > Support > Frequently Asked Questions > 372

This is a respond to a previously asked question about the A' Design Award and Competition. The full list of frequently asked questions can be accessed here.

#372: Why there should be any design awards? What is the purpose of design awards?

For many designers, the purpose of taking part in good design competitions is to have their designs highlighted and promoted. The purpose of good design competitions like us is to recognize and promote good designs so that the good and great designers could get more publicity and so that they could reach new and further audiences; prospective clients, design enthusiasts or press members. Designers need and deserve publicity because by reaching more people they can 1) satisfy the needs of more people by introducing new audience to good designs; also creating a greater good 2) designers who are more famous, are more likely to create more good designs as they would be more motivated as well as supported by the additional publicity that brings both recognition as well as additional funds; because if designs can reach more audiences, the designer could potentially be wealthier thanks to additional design units sold and the new additional resources the designer now has can be spent on research and development of even better designs and superior projects. Further value propositions of taking part in design competitions are for example testing your work, pushing yourself to design new products, getting your name and designs advertised, and networking with people among many others. Finally, at the social and aggregate level, design competitions are very useful to create a global awareness and appreciation for good design.
