Profile: Maud Joy Laurence Marie-Anne

About Maud Joy Laurence Marie-Anne : I graduated from the graphic design career at Duoc UC, Chile, specialising in UX/UI design, experimental project and photography and having some personal knowledge in service design. Curious, dynamic and eager for knowledge are my main qualities and strengths. Stimulating my creativity, opening my mind and understanding other cultures is an integral part of my personality. My development process I am fascinated about how humans works, think and react depending on their own personal and collective history, culture, languages and environments. I also have a keen interest in art, photography, animation, music and design. Often, I am curious about almost everything. That is why I decided at the age of 12 to move from my French-speaking part of Belgium to the other side of the country to the Dutch one. I boarded in a girls school for 2 years and after that, I started to study in different parts of Belgium where I learnt that every place had so much to discover and is unique and something rewarding. It made me more curious and helped me understand that the world was a huge playing field and experiments on humans aspects, at the same time I was trying to paint, learn photography and graphic design on my own. I found out that design was a powerful tool for humans, for their needs it allows people to communicate information, synthesise information, give value, create a different way of thinking, etc.. Today I know that all these words are associated with different design categories. Well, after finishing college, I went to discover Spain and New Zealand where I discovered that the people were so different and complex. I realised that I wanted to study graphic design but focused on the history of one country, so I started analysing a few countries outside of Europe and native Spanish speakers where the school will fit in with what I was fascinated about when I was younger. Because of their people, their history, their culture and their creativity, I found Chile. Then I decided at the age of 20 to make the best and most difficult decision of my young life, going alone and carrying out all my university studies there. This decision changed my way of thinking and who I am as a professional forever. In Chile, I became interested in service design and UX design and had the opportunity to work with governmental institutions and startup in that way. I'm learning and trying to do my best every day to become an accomplished designer one day and be part of the change. I believe in equality, honesty, respect and changes.
