Sanjay Newaskar
FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
SNDL: I belong to a family which has a Artist background. My ancestors used to design coats of Jardosi work for all kings.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
SNDL: The design studio aims at giving the utmost attention to personal style and independence of expressions which are driving forces in designing. Beautiful, self- expressive homes makes one feel alive when one comes home after a long working day. We take pleasure in creating such healthy, comfortable and environmentally sensitive spaces.

FS: What is "design" for you?
SNDL: To me interior design at its best, is a synthesis of its form and function. Attention to detail is what distinguishes a quality design project. Detail doesn't only mean adding, it's also about knowing when to edit.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
SNDL: Architectural concepts, Residential, Commercial, Hospitality, or almost anything what is possible to design

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
SNDL: The project that won me a Silver A' Design Award is my most favorite design (Project Name: Shadow house). More than any other project, this one required thorough study about sunlight. Direct sunlight is harsh for the eyesight and hence the lattice work, trapezoid panels, and curtains were used in such a way that it created shadows whole day until the sun sets down. The furniture was thought of & designed in different angles that it gave a feel like Origami art. Natural Greenwall was done in the dining area, it improves air quality and energy levels. It creates a good atmosphere.

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
SNDL: Residence

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
SNDL: Line Work

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
SNDL: When i am close to nature.

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
SNDL: Clean and clear line work with conceptualized design. Clear circulation, maximum natural light to the spaces, while giving it an open look.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
SNDL: I feel refreshed. I completely involve myself in designing any project.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
SNDL: On top of the world!

FS: What makes a design successful?
SNDL: A strong concept, detailed drawings, personalized solutions and a good team work.

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
SNDL: A good design is always innovative with technical excellence and professional integrity.

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
SNDL: It is to provide innovative design with a flexible environment, inspirational spaces with clear circulation.

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
SNDL: It appplies across all projects, no matter the budget, whether big or small. We first find out from our clients, as each client is unique and individual, what their current and expected needs and philosophy are, and then they work with the clients to create their personalized design. We create style of living that provides a flexible environment of flowing, well, lit, inspirational spaces that can transform the way you live. Future of design is too bright as long as professionals are involved in it.

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
SNDL: We had exhibited our works in A& I Digest Design Exhibition in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
SNDL: As I said I am inspired with different shapes of nature. As nature is full of creativity.

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
SNDL: Clean and clear line work , circulation, maximum natural light to the spaces while giving it an open look.

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
SNDL: Pune, Maharashtra, India. India is itself very rich in its cultural heritage. Incorporation of maximum sunlight (natural light) in all our projects is our speciality.

FS: How do you work with companies?
SNDL: We have Projects, which are handled by our company itself.

FS: Can you talk a little about your design process?
