| DESIGN NAME: TABLE T® PRIMARY FUNCTION: Outdoor or indoor table INSPIRATION: Inspiration came from working with Corian, DuPont solid material throughout the interior design projects. It is sustainable and gives many possibilities, it just needs some engineering experience and experimenting. The point was to combine Corian with other materials, and try to make it stable without its' usual underconstruction. It reflects delicate designs by combining smooth lines and materials. Built in led strip will be the bridge light source between a romantic candle light and futuristic feeling of Corian illumination Series DuPont as the main material, metallic painted holding structure and solid wood as its' standing parts. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Table T is a mixture of three materials: Corian Illumination Series, DuPont as the main material, metallic painted, powdered or galvanized holding structure and massive wood as its' standing parts. The point was to combine Corian with other materials, and try to make it stable without its' usual under-construction. The most difficult part was how to incorporate the metallic holding structure with the Illumination Series solid material without seeing it when switching the light on. The construction became the visible part of design, with its' function to hold Corian table top and reinforce the table stability. Led light is passing through the white semi-transparent surface leaving the linear graphics behind. Led light power supply-rechargeable battery or electrical cable. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is an outdoor or indoor design table. It is made out of sustainable, durable, antibacterial,water- PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2012 in Belgrade, Serbia and finished just before Salone del Mobile in April 2013 where it was exhibited for the first time. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Manufacture Corian, Dupont, as an highend solid sustainable material used in home as well as in retail, hospitality or medical enviroments comes in the boards of 6 to 19mm of 93/76cm x 368,5cm. It is cut, prepared and glued with the Corian® liquid glue in precise color manually for later on CNC cutting and forming the 3D structure of the table. It is a complex process of assembling different parts done manually. To get the sleek final result, tables are polished manually with 5 different granulations of the abrazive. The metalic construction is made also manually, coated in any RAL or Pantone color or galvanized into brass, copper or stainless steel. Solid wood of the Table T collection is manufactured from the high quality solid wood. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Corian Illumination Series, DuPont, solid wood, metalic construction galvanized or RAL powder coated/ Table T size L 160 x 92 x 72cm; collection of tables in different dimensions: Table T size S/M/L/BIG TAGS: Corian, DuPont, Solids, sustainable, table, furniture, outdoor, indoor, design, transparent, illumination, led RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research tools at the beggining of the process of designing were all the information that could be found regarding the properties of Corian as the main material in Table T idea- its' physical and technical properties, abilities of use, interaction and reactions to other materials, temperature as well as cutting out, gluing, forming and polishing. After that, throughout the prototyping phase, we were experiencing with the best assembling solutions to reach the best performance and visual effect. CHALLENGE: The most difficult part was how to incorporate the metallic holding structure into the Illumination Series without seeing it when switching the light on. Because, Corian as the material needs the underconstruction that makes it stable and gives it the needed strength. The construction became the visible part of design, with its' function to hold Corian table top and reinforce the table stability. First the whole Corian 3D structure was sculpted manually with the aid of a copy cutting out tool, afterwards we have programed the right 3d CNC machine for it, which made the whole process easier, more precise and faster. NAME: dsignedby PROFILE: dsignedby is a young company founded by Irena&Iva Kilibarda during the year of 2008. It works mainly in the fields of interior architecture and visual communication internationally. Through the interior designing, its' construction and detailed works dsignedby started creating lighting fixtures as well as furniture pieces. From year 2010 the studio is exhibiting annualy at worlds' finest furniture fairs including Milano Salone. |
