| DESIGN NAME: Be Genius PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cultural and Creative Products INSPIRATION: The designer drew inspiration from the auspicious and wealth-attracting symbolism of the mythical Chinese creature Pixiu in ancient Eastern mythology. Through in-depth research into the form, legends, and cultural significance of this mythical beast, the designer skillfully blended the charm of ancient aesthetics with modern sensibilities, creating functional everyday decorative items. The key to the design inspiration lies in the adept fusion of the creature's auspicious symbolism with contemporary living, transcending the constraints of time and revitalizing traditional culture in the present day. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The uniqueness of this project lies in drawing inspiration from the mythical Chinese creature Pixiu, a symbol associated with wealth and prosperity in ancient Eastern mythology. By crafting functional decorative items, the project not only preserves the millennia-old symbols of traditional culture but also infuses them with modern elements, making it a distinctive source of inspiration for cultural and creative products. This design not only possesses aesthetic value but also carries the mystery of ancient mythological stories, guiding people to explore the profound essence of Chinese culture. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Pixiu cultural and creative gifts can showcase their unique charm in various everyday scenarios. For example, magnetic Pixiu-shaped products affixed to refrigerators not only serve as decorative elements but also convey the symbolism of inviting wealth and prosperity, adding a festive atmosphere to the home. Alternatively, designing Pixiu in the form of compact keychains provides convenience for individuals to carry it with them. Such designs transform Pixiu into an auspicious talisman, serving both as a symbol of good fortune and a practical daily accessory. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2023 in Shenzhen, China and finished in August 2023 in Shenzhen, China. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Cutting graphic shapes on metal copper material, and digitally printing colored patterns. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 45mm x 50mm x 2mm; 50mm x 60mm x 2mm; 30mm x 24mm x 2mm. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Through in-depth research into the Pixiu mythology, the designer successfully integrated its symbolism into functional product designs, achieving a balance between the preservation and innovation of traditional culture. The products go beyond simple expressions of cultural symbols; they involve a reinterpretation through design, breathing new life into ancient myths and presenting them vividly in the modern context. CHALLENGE: In design, striking a balance between tradition and modern aesthetics is crucial. Products should not only carry cultural significance but also meet contemporary needs. Integrating Pixiu's wealth symbolism effectively transforms it into a culturally rich expression, seamlessly blending traditional features. Understanding market preferences through research ensures the product's alignment with trends, creating a desirable item that goes beyond cultural symbolism.
