| DESIGN NAME: Water PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pendant INSPIRATION: Paraiba tourmalines have the colour of swimming pool water. This was the inspiration to create a pendant, looking like a drop of water. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Water is a collier made of 750 yellow gold with a beautiful Paraiba tourmaline. The Paraiba tourmaline is set in a bezel that is fixed to a fine golden cable chain. The bezel is shaped like a water drop and has a little sparkle on top. So the paraiba is the water drop and the little diamond resembles a sparkling splash. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Paraiba tourmaline was set in a 750 yellow gold bezel. This bezel has a double frame, so there is a shadow gap. The exterior frame opens itself up, resembling a ripples that occur by dropping something in water. The diamond is set in the frame, so this is a little sparkling dot atop of the drop of water. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The pendant Water was created and build in November 2022 till Januar 2023 in Langen, near Frankfurt/Main Germany. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The pendant is made of a Paraiba tourmaline, a small diamond and a fine 750 yellow golden cable chain. Paraiba tourmaline are one of the most precious gemstones in the world. The Paraiba tourmaline has a unique and beautiful bright turiquoise colour. The name comes from the location where the tourmalines were found, in state Paraiba in Brasil. But the mine is carried to end, making the gem is even more precious. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Specifications: 750 yellow-gold, Paraiba tourmaline in a very good quality, small diamond. Dimensions necklace 42cm, Dimension pendant: approx. 25mm and 15mm high TAGS: Water. Paraiba, tourmaline, Brasilia, metamorphosis, jewelry, gold, pendant, goldsmith, handmade RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Water is an important element. Although it can sometimes be dangerous, it always essential for life. Swimming in turquoise water represents holidays, free and relaxed times - luxury. With the Water pendant we wanted to highlight the most vivid and joyful aspects of water. CHALLENGE: This pendant is forged by hand. To shape it in the way it is, it was necessary to reflect carefully were the little diamond needed to be set. At that place the layers of gold can not be soldered together. The bezel in which the Paraiba is set should be elevated a little above the exterior frame. Both frames should join organically. Like the waves water shows by dripping a drop in it.
