| DESIGN NAME: Bayt Al Saboun PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cosmetics Products INSPIRATION: We wanted to have a different shape, to stand out against the competitors, a unique packaging and label design. Design research and the trials we worked on lead us to this option which turned out to be very elegant and functional at the same time. Material choice and color helped to the result of the final look. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Bottles and jar design for lotions, creams, shampoo, body scrubs, body oils, body mist. After a lot of research and study a unique shape was chosen for the packages, with a very unique and modern labeling system. Label concept was very challenging because of the diagonal outer shape of the packages. The graphics and copy is set in a special way so they appear straight after the labels are placed on them. Material used is PET frosted with opacity in order to see the level of the product. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We designed different top parts for different liquids/products. The shampoo has a flip top and is squeezable, the hair conditioner has a pump to function better - rather than squeeze), the hair and body mist use spray, and finally the dry oils is used by the dropper/pipette. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project has been worked on for the past year and now since the bottles have been approved and being produced, the labels are being developed with the proposed design and the color coding system for different categories. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The product has been sampled using 3D printer at the initial stages and then once approved, the drawings were sent to china and made a sample of the bottle. The material used is PET, it will have frosted effect with some transparency to show the inner product level. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The product sizes are different for each volume, they range from 16cm height all the way down o 10cm for the 100ml bottle(dropper). TAGS: packaging, label design, soaps, shampoo, lotions, body scrub, hair oil, body mist, face cream, face mask RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We initially started research of the direct competitors, to have a reference point. Then we started sketching ideas for new and customized bottle shapes, because the brief was to have customized product design. We started drawing out ideas on 3D software to see and visualize from different angles and study the production challenges. Then we moved to material research and choice. CHALLENGE: The hardest part was having an esthetically good looking product design while functioning perfectly for all the product range.
