| DESIGN NAME: Nirvana PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence INSPIRATION: As the long told eastern saying goes, For there is Buddha in thought, there is Buddha in sight. What one sees in things comes from how one thinks of things. Therefore, the designer has metaphorically embodied the ideas of Buddhism in the residential space to demonstrate the client lifestyle and taste. Besides, since the client is a devout Buddhist who is aware that the Buddha Dharma is practiced and manifested in daily life, the designer has planned the color scheme of the living sharp and s UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The homeowner, a devout Buddhism who has reconciled with the twists and turns of life through Buddha Dharma, expects a residence to be a heart warming haven. Therefore, after an intimate conversation with the client, the designer has decided to introduce the story of the homeowner pursuit of Dao and the implication of Buddha Dharma in the living space. Amazingly, the residence speaks for itself and embraces the sublime power from where our faith belongs. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It depicts the story of how a person opens a heart, breaks free, and enjoys a bright future. The dark shade wood blocks are implanted where every piece of light shade wood floor connects, and this resembles how one mind becomes more perseverant while pursuing Dao. The whole space, constructed in stone and wood texture, makes it as if the homeowner were settling in nature. Revere, a piece of art by the oil painter Chu Teh Chun, is hanging on the stone wall. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Cleverly, the designer has made a contrast in color scheme planning by selecting a lighter tone for the shared living space to show its leisure and openness while choosing a darker tone for the personal living space to offer comfort and coziness. Behind the dark brown wooden door, the sunlight shines through the floor-to-ceiling window; as if the space were demonstrating the pilgrimage of religion and truth. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project is about 195 sqaure meters. TAGS: Interior, Design, Residence, Modern, Style RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A chandelier resembling an inverted bell is hanging over the dinner table and the gray black diner table and chairs are set in the dining room. They covertly reveal a sacred and solemn atmosphere. The stone wall on the side resembles a monolith with a natural green shade, combined with the soft glow of indirect lighting, as if Buddha halo were radiating from the wood grain, reflecting the spatial embodiment of Buddhism. CHALLENGE: For this project, the designer has installed floor to ceiling windows in the shared living area and window sills in the personal living space, which welcomes the sunlight indoors. Accordingly, there is no high demand for electric lights during the daytime, reducing electricity consumption. Also, it extends the service life of electric lights and reduces carbon emissions. For the entire residential space, the designer adopts green building materials, which ensures the safety of occupants and the construction team and realizes the ideas of environmental preservation.
