Interview with Fineherbsoap Co., Ltd & Yung-Li Chen at Tuesday 22nd of October 2019

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
FC: FineHerbs Company is supervised by Dr. Chen who has Chinese medicine license and western medicine license. From the angle of treating disease and nurturing life, Dr. Chen collects and selects a lot of plant’s essecnce element with the doctor’s angle, for producing the herbtea and herbsoap. For expressing vitality and beauty of plant, Dr. Chen and Use Brand Design Corp work together, the shape idea of box is from the complex of rosebud and mintleaf, and zinnia seed’s idea is from the lucky 100 symbol of Zinnia for Chinese people.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
FC: The box itself will be naturally decomposed returning to the earth. Therefore, reuse of waste and regenerate beautiful new life

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
FC: 2 years.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
FC: For expressing vitality and beauty of plant, Dr. Chen and Use Brand Design Corp work together, the shape idea of box is from the complex of rosebud and mintleaf, and zinnia seed’s idea is from the lucky 100 symbol of Zinnia for Chinese people.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
FC: myself only.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
FC: From the angle of treating disease and nurturing life, Dr. Chen collects and selects a lot of plant’ sessecnce element with the doctor’s angle, for producing the herbtea and herbsoap. For expressing vitality and beauty of plant.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
FC: Use Brand Design Corp .

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
FC: FINEHERBSOAP CO.,LTD

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
FC: All the materials of this gift box is totally compliance with national standards. The box uses the mixed pulp of 100% recycle paper and lavender grass seeds, and is made with two times hot compressing. The bottom specific location of ‘Water Me’uses another tiny recycle paper (size/2cm*2cm), which is produced by special procedure to make sure the sprouting rate will be more than 90%. After move the box into soil, Zinnia will continue to grow up, and box itself will be naturally decomposed returning to the earth. Therefore, reuse of waste and regenerate beautiful new life

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
FC: The FineHerbs brand’s spirit. The artistic conception of ‘take it from nature and use it for nature’also help givers to express highly ‘delivering good wishes and new hope’mind to their friends while using this box as gift.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
FC: All the materials of this gift box is totally compliance with national standards. The box uses the mixed pulp of 100% recycle paper and lavender grass seeds, and is made with two times hot compressing.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
FC: Due to the ratio between recycle paper and lavender grass seeds will influence the appearance of the box, we do many tests to find the best ratio and then enter the product stage. Also due to Zinnia’s seed will almost not grow up if it is produced by a hot compression. Therefore, we use the special procedure to make sure the Zinnia seed’sprouting rate more than 90%.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
FC: Due to the ratio between recycle paper and lavender grass seeds will influence the appearance of the box, we need to find the best ratio and then enter the product stage. Also we need to find the best condition for Zinnia’s seed to grow up.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
FC: Due to the ratio between recycle paper and lavender grass seeds will influence the appearance of the box, we need to find the best ratio and then enter the product stage.
