Home > Winners > Design #46638 >Interview
Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Omdesign (OC) for A' Design Awards and Competition. You can access the full profile of Omdesign by clicking here. Access more information about the award winning design Super Bock House of Beer here.

Interview with Omdesign at Tuesday 17th of May 2016

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
OC: Brimming with tradition and authenticity, Super Bock House of Beer, created by Omdesign, is a new visitors centre in Porto, located in Unicer's factory, the largest Portuguese company producing beverages, which belongs to the Carlsberg. The visit is distributed over 10 different areas. Super Bock House of Beer is an authentic and fully operational living house where the visitors can learn about the raw materials used to make beer, as well as the important moments, stories and curiosities of the Super Bock brand.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
OC: Aimed at drawing the consumers closer to the brand, the involvement with visitors is a constant feature, offering a unique and unforgettable experience, through various rooms with films and the on-going interactivity with static and dynamic contents addressing the history of the company, people and the brand, passing on to the current production line where this emblematic beer is made.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
OC: The project started in the beginning of March 2015 in Porto (Portugal) and finished in October 2015.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
OC: This dynamic and interactive place is marked by the identity, design, production and assembly of Omdesign. The development of all the contents and spaces were also entrusted to the agency, which focused on solutions, materials, formats and hues of colour allusive to the world of beer and the territory of Super Bock.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
OC: To create this visitors centre, the Omdesign team took its inspiration in the natural materials with which beer is made as well as all colours that represent the world of beer and the Super Bock brand.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
OC: This space is an authentic and fully operational living house, where it is possible to watch the entire brewing process, learn about the raw materials used to make beer, as well as the important moments, stories and curiosities of the Super Bock brand.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
OC: We visited different visitors centres in Europe that were object of study and benchmarking for the Super Bock House of Beer, in order to promote the best experience to all visitors.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
OC: Considering that Super Bock House of Beer is in the Unicer's factory, the main concern and challenge for Omdesign was assure that the visitors could see all brewing process without interfere with the beer production. This building was constructed, in the past, only with the aim of being functional for the brewing process. So, the other huge challenge was to build up and adapt our creative and design concepts regarding all limitations, always preserving the brewery.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
