Interview with Katsuya Arai at Thursday 10th of July 2014

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
KA: I was thinking how can I show funny expression darken in geometric modeling and the beautiful curve of the family crest of Japan daily. I also was thinking links with Alphabet and its crest and produce a new representation method.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
KA: A new representation method of the fusion of the modeling of Japan's crest and Alphabet showing current progressive form of "Japaneseness".

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
KA: My aim to raise up other brother brand products, not only Ampang also expand. Also, I want to establish a new standing position of bread.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
KA: Took about a month repeat the inspection to a variety of concepts from FIX Fast Orientale.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
KA: Interest in traditional culture is being reduced in Japan in recent years. It is also affects the impression of Japan as seen from outside the country. And I thought I want to send the world the traditional culture of Japan again through design and design with the axis of the family coat of arms "SIZUYAPAN". It's also used many European languages ​​as well due to it

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
KA: Kyoto can feel strong still even now the traditional culture of Japan. It was designed to expand that links the shape of the Ampang bale family coat of arms and is also a symbol of Japan in fact Ampang was born from there.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
KA: It is inspired by many different designers every day , but it is inspired from the Honami Koetsu and Ikko Tanaka for Shizuya-pan.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
KA: Wide age group of men and women between 20s to 40s, including overseas. Also, assume that visitors to Kyoto in Kyoto that brought back limited release Gift.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
KA: Become surface detail, but is provided with a regulation to make each one of the family coat of arms. Bread of the same cloth together are committed to branding carefully taking advantage of the personality of bread every single frame of the same family crest and are used or to ink the inside of the crest of bread bean paste.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
KA: I have in mind that the name that will be meaningful above all for deployment design changes significantly from the SIZUYA (Company name) .SIZUYAPAN in the fact that PAN(bread in Japanese) was born from SIZUYA.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
KA: Adobe Illustrator CS3

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
KA: Design of the original family crest different piece of a piece of merchandise. The new representation by fusion with modeling of Japan's crest and Alphabet showing current progressive form of "Japaneseness".

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
KA: The aggregated within the visual representation by using the band for packaging throughout. Design element itself plays a role of packaging thereby. In addition it is possible to perform accommodated by changing only the band also when the product line-up change in the future, it was added.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
KA: Kyoto a lot of tourist number of visitors regardless of domestic and foreign Among Japan. It is with a view to the development of overseas future by extruding the motif of the sum.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
KA: A new representation method of the fusion of the modeling of Japan's crest and Alphabet showing current progressive form of "Japaneseness"

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
KA: Would like to be spread abroad products SIZUYAPAN, the design to increase the value by being evaluated in competition rendition of honor that A DESIGN AWARD.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
KA: Research consciousness close to the experiment to realize a method agnostic existing concepts, the formation of logic. The technology that make up the prevailing modeling in detail. That it was able to reaffirm the sense of beauty unique to the Japanese that are in their last was the largest.
