| DESIGN NAME: Leaf PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pendant Light INSPIRATION: As its name suggests, the shape of this pendant light was mainly influenced by palm leaves. The designer of this lamp created a form that gives a different impression from every viewing angle. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The aim of this unique shape is to make it a captivating and outstanding element of any room on its own. This effect gets emphasized depending on the light conditions because of the ever changing tones and colours of the pendant. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Due to the pendant’s elongated shape, it suits mostly rooms with higher interior Due to the pendant’s elongated shape, it best suits rooms with high interiors. The lamp itself creates a unique atmosphere in any room and it can also be emphasized by additional lighting (e.g. spot lights). PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The pendant's shape is defined by the anodized aluminium poles, fixed in a 3D printed holder, following a V-shaped geometry. An Edison Vintage LED bulb completes the appearance. The usage of aluminium tubes ensures a really lightweight framework. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Materials: anodized aluminium poles, 3D printed polyamide holder. 2 sizes are available: Leaf 72 - height: 720mm, diameter: 270mm, weight: 1.8kg Leaf 97 - height: 970mm, diameter: 380mm, weight: 2.4kg TAGS: leaf, pendant, light, fixture, metal, loomiosa, contemporary, lamp RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The basic shape of the lamp was born relatively quickly. However it needed months of research and development with countless prototypes to create its perfect balance and the best look from all possible angles. Experiments with 3D printing, vacuum casting and surface finishing technologies have also been performed to reach the desired quality and perfect assembly for the manufacturing of the product. CHALLENGE: The primary challenge was the shape’s feasibility, easy assembly and the adaptability of the 3D printing technology to the pendant light family. During evolving, particular attention was paid to the clearness of the design and to covering the technical details and clasps.
