EP Books Taichung
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Charity Library
INSPIRATION:
EP Books is a library for charity. People can enjoy the reading time all day long, just have to pay the cost as NTD100. Designer use peer white tone and bookcase walls in whole interior, to create the clear and bright atmosphere. In EP books, people can put themselves into the joy of reading, forget the worry in daily life.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Exploring the world in books just like Muggles in magic land, so novel and unpredictable. Inspired by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the bookcase is designed to be rotated, block a large space into three sites, also has the function of sound insulation. As a result, the space would not only get more elastic but more interesting.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Entering the door, people can see the high-ceiling interior through the first and second floor immediately. High and low bookcase well-proportioned in space, make people feel like safari in books sea.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
Started in May 2017 and finished in November 2017 in Taiwan Taichung

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Using light colored wood and white space tone, designer wants to create a place for Phubbing which can put down their smartphones for reading.
Bookcase in everywhere, let reading would be full of surprise as treasure hurting.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Designer attempt to create the atmosphere as surrounding by the sea of books . Meanwhile, there are many bookcases in every corner. It make people have the chance to find the book they love unexpectedly. Spending NTD100 to change the time to reading a lot , make public improve their reading quality and habit.
CHALLENGE:
Different from normal book for profit , EP books truly welcome people to set down and take a nice book to read , the seat in here is reader-friendly. Besides, movable book wall also provide a comfortable environment for charity group activity. EP-books will satisfy various needs in limit space.

I am in awe of the thought and consideration that has gone into the design of EP Books Taichung. It is a wonderful example of how creativity and humanitarianism can go hand in hand. Not only does the design provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for visitors, but also fulfills the purpose of a charity library with its functional design. The use of natural materials and bright colors bring a cheerful feeling to the space and truly make it a place where people can not only read, but also enjoy their time.
