| DESIGN NAME: Raven Kick Scooter PRIMARY FUNCTION: Kick Scooter INSPIRATION: Probably all of you remember that two years ago, Citybirds has presented neo orange minimalistic kick scooter called Pigeon.Today we just got back from a trip of the lifetime around Europe. During which we were delivering Pigeons to the people who backed the successfully funded kickstarter project.While making attempts not to stop at what has been achieved with a Pigeon we do our best to show our clear position on the impact of ecology on human life. Therefore, we are super excited to introduce you to Raven the lightest scooter on a market! UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The most unique part of the Raven is the orange gap in a middle of horizontal frame which gives the possibility to fold the whole scooter to absolute flatpack stick, which does not take much space. The streamlined shape of the Raven perfectly fits to a consumers shoulder therefore it gives a possibility to carry it easily when scooter is folded. We have chosen to use carbon fiber material, for the reason of its luxuriance, stability and lightness. Therefore Raven scooter weights only 980grams. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Raven kick scooter folds with just one movement with the hands. Consumers just need to unlock and rotate the handlebar which tights the cable and unlocks the locking system only with one movement. So it is absolutely comfortable in use. Moreover, we designed the orange gap in a middle of horizontal frame which gives the possibility to fold the whole scooter to absolute flatpack stick, which does not take much space. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project has been developer and manufactured in collaboration between Switzerland and Lithuania in April 2016. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Regarding the fact that we wanted to expand our target group and to create a trend which would involve the businessmen to be a part of this eco-friendly vehicle movement, we chosen to use carbon fiber material, for the reason of its luxuriance, stability and lightness. Therefore Raven scooter weights only 980grams. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The dimensions of unfolded Raven scooter length 640mm. (centre of front to back wheel) x Width 70mm. x Height 970mm. Front wheel- D=147mm. Rare wheel- D=80mm. I loved that it is absolutely incredible tool of changing things. Changing things to better, prettier or more comfortable. Today design become not only the tool for changing the things or services surrounded around us. It is amazing tool that helps to create a new way of thinking, the new way of social movements. In the beginning phase of Raven creation we started to make huge research how does the people uses this kind of vehicles. We have already some experience in this kind of business cause two years ago we launched the Pigeon kick scooter and we started to understand how does the market works. We made tones of surveys and found out that elder people still think that this kind of vehicle is more suitable for kids, not for adults. Therefore we started to build something new, fresh and solid according the wants and needs of our consumers. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge of the designing process is always how to do not give up in the manufacturing step and create a real product, not only an idea, sketch, or Cgi render but real scooter which would appear on a shop shelves whole around the world. Therefore, design becomes very important part and has important role in this complex process of creation. NAME: Raven PROFILE: Citybirds is a company headquartered in Geneva,Switzerland and Vilnius, Lithuania that designs, develops and sells eco-mobility solutions, for a moment kick scooters for colourful city commuters or as we call them- Citybirds. Our main values are to pay attention to the details, to create products with an added value of design, to think about the comfortability and to create the products that are simple to use and user-friendly. At the moment, we are manufacturing four different kick scooters, that suits to different target audiences. However we have more ambitions and plans to come into the market with a new and more innovative products. |
