| DESIGN NAME: Bloom PRIMARY FUNCTION: Parasol INSPIRATION: Bloom is inspired by the summer and nature's most colourful creation: flowers. Fabric petals create a canopy o relax under in the shade and to enjoy the colour tones above you. The wind makes the petals dance to produce a mesmerizing effect. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Bloom is inspired by the summer and nature's most colourful creation: flowers. Fabric petals create a canopy o relax under in the shade and to enjoy the colour tones above you. The wind makes the petals dance to produce a mesmerizing effect. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The parasol is opened and closed by hand. The Parasol is opening almost automatic. just need an extra push for the last 20 cm to fix the Parasol. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2012 in Brussels and finished in August 2012 in Bruges, and was exhibited in Maison and Object at Paris September 2012. My memory, Google and Pinterest Sywawa These are first done on paper as sketches, then on computer as 3D models, then a prototypes in the workshop of Sywawa During prototyping, we discovered how the coloured cover fabric interacted beautifully with the white fabric underneath. This was unexpected but beautiful. CHALLENGE: The creative challenge was to make sure this was not just a round version of the Breezer, a previous design. We needed to create an extra level which we achieved by adding the coloured tops which interacted with the fabric underneath and by playing with the different densities and spacing of the hanging fabrics. Technologically and technically, there were not many challenges since we learnt most already from developing the Breezer.
