| DESIGN NAME: Pasión PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bottle INSPIRATION: The inspiration of this object comes from the encounter between two lovers and how they become one when they hold each other tight. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a hand made object which means that every bottle is different from one another. For its shape and the organic surface it is very nice to the hand. This shape also makes that the liquid contained can be appreciated differently, for it looks as if the bottle wasn't made out of glass, but instead of a liquid like material. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This is a decoration piece and you can use it however you like, from watter, wine or any liquid container to a flower container, you can give it the use you prefer. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Arturo got the idea in december 2013 when he saw a tree with its branches braided together, this reminded him of a couple dancing together, so he started working in capturing this in a glass object and has been perfecting it since then. He lives in the community of Telix in Oaxaca, which is a few minutes away of the studio, located in Magdalena Etla, at the Parque industrial 2000. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This piece is completely handmade at Studio Xaquixe, a blown glass factory. We only use 95% recycled glass. The furnaces of the studio are built and designed by the crew, to improve the tecnology and utilize alternative surces of energy to create combustion. At the moment we use natural gas and cooking oil that we buy to restaurants in the area, but we are working in making a biodigester fed with local byomass to create methane gas so we only use alternative energy. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: With 10 cm, Depth 10 cm, Height 30cm. TAGS: bottle, sensual, glass, glassblown, hand made, crafts RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Arturo gives us La pasion as a product of 10 years of learning and mastering glass process. Also as a result of his life influence, because in Telix, the comunity where he comes from they say that the passion in a relationship is the most important part, a marriage is about carrying for each other and overcoming the obstacles in life, so you must love one another. We believe this is his masterpiece. CHALLENGE: The bigest chalenge was to make the abstraction of the idea and adjust it to the shape of a bottle, only possible when mastering the process and material. Which Arturo has reached within all the years of practice, letting the material express itself by creating it by hand, opposite to what you get when creating objects in an industrial way, where you can control its shape and size so much that the material looses its voice. NAME: Studio Xaquixe PROFILE: We are a blown- glass studio that uses 95% recycled glass for all the pieces we do (and by recycled we mean we buy the glass waste of the trash and use it in our secret formula). We also develop new technology for using alternative energy in heating the furnaces, such as biomass and other kinds of waste. Based in Oaxaca, Mexico, we are the only ones of our kind. |
