| DESIGN NAME: Screw Chair PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Furniture INSPIRATION: During the history, furniture have gone through lots of ups and downs; and their development during the passing time made them easier to use. In modern culture we need products which have multi-function and take a minimum place. In design of this product I inspired from a simple wooden box, so that we can sit on it, use it as table and even a shelf. Its collectable and we can store it in a shelf. Simple form and natural materials are two good points of this design.This project is inspired by Japanese Minimalism.Also the five senses specially the sense of touch and vision are used to clarify the subject. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Being simply flat packed and assembled makes this product easily movable and a space saver.It can even be used as a table or shelf so a few pieces of this product meets all the needs for modern minimal space conscious living spaces. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In this project empty boxes made of Russian wood or Bamboo are used for the legs which are cut to equal pieces;and are fixed in the holes previously improvised over and under the boxes. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The technological part of this project is based on screws and bolts fixed on the wooden parts of the body and legs that makes it easily changeable.In the project's concept bamboos can be used for the legs and backrest;but for mass construction Russian wood and Steel screw/bolt joints should be used.The seating area is made of Polyurethane Foam with a fabric cover which helps it to be more ergonomic. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Overall Dimension: 500mm (W) x 500mm (D) x 980mm (H) Just 5 KG weight while stability is perfect TAGS: chair , simplicity , multifunction, table, shelf, easy assembling , art design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In nowadays' venturesome life the middle class and the low income part of the society is under the most economical pressure and thus are more interested in simple,cheap and utilized furniture than the elegant designs.More over most of the furniture units are made for single usages which boosts the need of a multi usage product.Also most such products need to be understood fully by a sensory liaison of the five senses which can be sought through Minimalism. CHALLENGE: This product is capable of easily being assembled from a flat packed box to a chair,table or shelf.All the parts are positioned in the seating box and are consuming a very small space.
