Interview with Bhavin Manek at Monday 16th of April 2012

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
BM: The only principle, idea and inspiration behind my design is women. They are most pretty species on earth,I just beautify them further through my Jewellery.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
BM: My main focus was to make something that was not created and used before.I wanted to achieve a Master Piece.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
BM: Future plan is to work in collaboration with big Jewelley Houses.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
BM: It took 2 months to complete from idea to reality.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
BM: I just wanted to make my own jewellery line.I always try to craft new concepts with innovation and mysticism.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
BM: This design is very close to my heart. No company has seen, produced or used it before. In future I would like to sell or lease the production rights or intent to produce work myself all options are open for discussion.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
BM: Its Pure Passion towards designing.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
BM: It was just I.Me,Myself.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
BM: My design is for everyone who appreciates and understands the beauty of it.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
BM: I have not compared my design to any other works, because each jewellery is unique and has its own style and persona. It is unique because it covers half part of the ear and dangles down below the ear lobes.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
BM: It was an instant thinking. When I saw the first look of my finished jewellery I was mesmerized by its beauty and the first word that poured from my heart was Immortal and than I decided that this it!!Immortal means destined to live forever just like undying love.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
BM: It was just me and my two craftsmen.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
BM: I feel designs are not based on the role of technology they are based on Love which can never be replaced.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
BM: No data nor analytical research.I just wanted to make it for beautiful women.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
BM: The main challenges was spacing between the diamonds and a proper flow of length to width ratio.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
BM: It was luck by chance.I was destined for it.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
