Backgrounds
Who? Who was involved? What? What happened (what's the story)? When? When did it take place? Where? Where did it take place? Why? Why did it happen? and How? How did it happen? A mix of parallel events; As technology became more advanced traditional design competitions shifted to internet (but they did not evolve). With the realization of the added value created by design and innovation, companies started to look for further innovation and design, internet provided the interactive environment to make this search possible, and company based competitions were born (these competitions were poorly organized and executed, furthermore the terms and agreements favored the organizer companies; designers unrealizingly sold their best designs for the fraction of what they should be getting). Online success stories created a trend of emerging start-ups that focused on meta-niches, some of these profit-oriented companies saw the designers as a source of income, organized design competitions that required a payment to enter. (these banal competitions , with limited number of participants and near-zero benefits aimed only to take the money from the pocket of designers.) With globalization outsourcing and with new technologies crowd-sourcing become popular; designers were asked to create not designs but to provide services and products, designers became the mind laborers; logo design competitions, t-shirt design competitions came to be, out of hundreds of designs, one were to be selected by people who know nothing about what design is. (not only there were not respect to designers, there was also no returns).
